Help us protect and cherish our community by adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Be an informed and respectful traveler - observe local, and national laws and regulations & respect local traditions, customs, and culture
  • Follow regulations and guidelines set by local authorities and tour operators
  • Always ask permission first, act later
  • Show respect at all times, but do not be afraid to ask questions
  • Dress modestly and appropriately, especially when visiting sacred and religious sites
  • Practice responsible photography, respect privacy, and ask for permission when necessary
  • Follow the signs and indications. This will allow a safer visit for you, your family, and the environment
  • Contribute to the local economy, the maintenance of trails and facilities by paying the solicited price of entrance
  • Support local businesses and artisans
  • Be mindful of noise levels and avoid disrupting local communities
  • Preserve the environment by disposing of waste properly and minimizing plastic usage

The Kalinago Barana Aute represents the resilience of the Kalinago People. It was based on a concept of former Kalinago Chief Faustulus Frederick (1975 - 1979) of building a Kalinago model village. This facility promotes Kalinago traditions and cultural awareness while providing residents with a viable economic product.

The KBA employs several permanent and seasonal staff of 10 people including a manager, administrative staff, tour guides, security, and maintenance.
